Young BT Buff Japanese Cockerel - 7 months old |
Here
are some pictures of a few of our Black Tailed Buff Japanese. We got
our
start with this breed from Shannon
Miller of Miller Poultry Farm
in Manchester, TN. A cockerel from Shannon's flock won Grand
Champion
of Show.
Japanese Bantams are one of the few true bantams as they are not a miniature of a stanbdard size breed. They are distinctive in their short legs and high carriage of the tail (often called squirrel tailed). They are a very calm breed and often try to jump out of the cage into our arms when we feed them. Since we've moved most of these breeders into a pen in the new barn (Aug 2000), their tails won't get quite so frazzled. Their egg production has picked up dramatically also! |
