A one-word topic is the
easiest to search for, but be careful choosing the word. Searching
for chicken will find nearly every page on
the website. Be specific and try the
search several times using different variations of
the word if you don't find what you want. I.E.: if you
search for coops and don't find what you want,
try searching for housing.
a space
between words (without using quote marks) will find pages containing
either
word. You can use this to your advantage by trying word variations
to find more of what you want with one search. For example if your
looking for info on all waterfowl, you can search for: ducks
waterfowl geese goose or fertility
hatchability.
To search for an "exact phrase", put it in quotes. For example "laying hens" will find just the pages containing the exact phrase, but searching for: laying hens will find all pages containing the word laying and all those containing the word hens. Try not to overdo this, though. Searching for "hatching egg fertility" may not find what you want, while simply searching for fertility will.
Again, if you don't find what you're looking for the first time, try a different variation, such as: "cleaning eggs" vs "washing eggs", or "chicken housing" vs "chicken coop", or "chicken disease" vs "chicken illness". In the last example you could also use a multi-word search: disease illness medication treatment.
Don't get too complicated. Searching for "incubator" may find what you want, while "making a home made duck egg incubator" will just confuse the search engine and not get results. Short and concise is a good rule of thumb and remember to use quotes if you want to find a specific phrase.
