Broad Breasted Bronze Tom Turkeys
Chick

Jim and Lisa Thompson, who live a few miles down the road from us, asked us if we'd like to have a couple of pet birds...  Well, you can never have enough birds, right?  We drove down there and picked them up last Thursday night, March 30, 2000.  Justine tried, anyway. These guys have got to weight 40 pounds each!  We hefted them into the back of Justine's Blazer and turned them loose in our pasture.  Talk about big pets!!  These guys want attention like puppies!  As these photos show, They get under your feet and almost knock you down.  How do you ignore a 40 pound turkey that wants attention?

NO, we are NOT raising turkeys, so don't ask.  These are only pets.  BIG pets.  Justine just named them: Beavis and Butthead!!

Beavis and Butthead posing for the camera
When these guys hang out in the front yard,
people are afraid to come through the gate.
Guess we'll need a sign: "Caution: Beware
of Attack Turkeys!"
Beavis and Butthead squaring off
They just got here and already they're strutting
around like they own the place...
Justine giving them some attention
Justine's cat, Baby, isn't sure what to make of
the new guys in the pasture, but he's keeping
his distance. Our old 14'x50' barn is in the
background in these photos.
Pet us some more, Mommy ! C'mon Ma !!!
That's better, c'mon and pet us some more !! Pet ME... no ME... no pet me!
You better pet ME or I'll knock you down !!
Justine almost loses her footing as one
of them attacks from behind!
Portrait of Beavis
This is Beavis.
One UGLY dude! but totally harmless.
Butthead passed away in mid-2002 of a severe eye infection that the vet could not cure and Beavis died in early 2003.
